Whether you want to make moon water for yourself or for your fellow witches, these rituals will help you connect with the lunar power and enhance your magick.

In this article – A Simple and Powerful Method

Ritual Basics

Before beginning any ritual, it is important to prepare yourself mentally and physically. You may want to take a cleansing bath, or shower, and meditate or perform some grounding exercises to center yourself. Gather any materials you will need, such as candles, incense, and offerings for the forest spirits.
You can read a more detailed Ritual Preparation guide here.

To make water blessed by the moon, there are several methods you can use.

Series Overview

Here are some methods that we will cover in this series:

The Ritual

Water is one of the most essential elements for life on Earth and has long been revered as a symbol of purity, healing, and transformation. Throughout history, many cultures and traditions have used water in their rituals and ceremonies, believing that it has the power to cleanse, purify, and bless.

Moon Water: A Simple and Powerful Method

One simple and powerful way to bless water is by using the energy of the full moon. The full moon is a time of heightened energy and illumination and is believed to be a potent time for magic and manifestation. By placing a bowl of water outside on the night of the full moon, you can infuse the water with the energy and power of the moon, creating a potent tool for ritual and healing.

  • Bowl
  • Water (Fresh water, preferably from a natural source.)

Optional – Use only One

  • 1 pinch Salt
  • Few Drops Essential Oils
  1. To begin, choose a bowl that is clean and made of a non-toxic material, such as glass or ceramic. Fill the bowl with fresh water, ideally from a natural source such as a stream or a well. You can add a pinch of salt or a few drops of essential oils to the water if you wish, but this is optional.

  2. Next, find a spot outside where the bowl will be exposed to the light of the full moon. It is best to place the bowl on a flat surface, such as a table or a stone, to keep it stable. You can cover the bowl with a lid or a cloth to keep it clean, but make sure it is breathable so that the water can still absorb the moon's energy.

  3. Ideally, the water should be left outside from sunset to sunrise, allowing it to absorb the full cycle of the moon's energy. However, if you cannot leave the water outside for this long, even a few hours of exposure to the moon's rays can be beneficial.

  4. While the water is outside, it is important to set your intention for what you want the water to be used for. You can speak your intention out loud, or simply hold it in your mind. Whether you want to use the water for ritual purification, cleansing, or healing, be clear and specific about your intention.

  5. When the water has been exposed to the full moon's energy, you can bring it inside and use it in your rituals and ceremonies. You can drink it, use it to anoint yourself or your tools, or incorporate it into a spell or ritual. Remember to always be respectful and mindful of the water, and to give thanks to the moon for its blessings.

When the water has been blessed by the full moon, you can use it in a variety of ways. You can drink it, use it for ritual purification or cleansing, or incorporate it into a spell or ritual. Remember to always be mindful and respectful of the water, and to give thanks to the moon for its blessings.

Here are three chants asking the moon to bless water:

“Moon of power, shining bright, bless this water with your light. Infuse it with your sacred energy, and may it bring healing and clarity.”

“Goddess of the moon, hear my plea, bless this water with your purity. May it cleanse and purify and bring peace and serenity.”

“Maiden, Mother, and Crone, hear my call, bless this water, one and all. May it be a tool for transformation and bring wisdom and intuition.”

Tea Leaf Reading

Introduction

Divination, or the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown through supernatural means, has been a part of human culture and history for centuries. One of the most popular forms of divination is tea leaf reading, also known as tasseography or teomancy. This ancient art involves interpreting the patterns and symbols formed by the tea leaves at the bottom of a cup after they have been steeped in hot water.

The tea leaf reader then examines the patterns and symbols formed by the tea leaves, using their intuition and experience to interpret them. While there are no set rules or guidelines for interpreting tea leaves, there are some common symbols and patterns that can be used as a starting point.

Tasseography can be used for many purposes, including gaining insight into the future, seeking guidance on a particular situation or problem, or as a form of self-reflection. Some people use tasseography as a form of meditation, allowing the symbols and patterns to guide them in their personal growth and development.

History

Tasseography is an ancient art of divination that involves interpreting the patterns and symbols formed by tea leaves at the bottom of a cup after they have been steeped in hot water. This practice has its roots in many cultures, including China, India, and the Middle East, and has been used for centuries to gain insight into the future or the unknown.

The word “tasseography” comes from the French word “tasse” (cup) and the Greek word “graph” (to write), which together mean “cup writing.” The practice involves using a cup, typically made of porcelain or ceramic, and a loose-leaf tea, preferably one with larger leaves, to create patterns and symbols that can be interpreted by a tea leaf reader.

Tea leaf reading has its roots in China, where tea was first brewed more than 5,000 years ago. The art of tea leaf reading was then brought to Europe in the 17th century, where it quickly became popular among the aristocracy. Today, tea leaf reading is practiced all over the world and is often used as a form of entertainment or to gain insight into one’s future.

Practice

To begin a tea leaf reading, one must first choose a loose-leaf tea, preferably one with larger leaves, and steep it in a cup of hot water. The tea should be allowed to steep for a few minutes before the tea leaves are swirled around the cup three times and then poured out. The remaining tea leaves at the bottom of the cup are then interpreted.

Some common symbols found in tasseography include animals, such as birds or cats, which can represent companionship, loyalty, or protection. Shapes, such as circles or squares, can represent stability, completeness, or balance. Numbers can represent specific dates, ages, or events in the future, while letters can represent initials or names of people who will play a significant role in the future.

Objects, such as hats or keys, can represent specific events or situations in the future, while lines can represent paths or journeys, or indicate the length of time that events will take place. Finally, symbols such as hearts, stars, or moons can represent love, luck, or spirituality.

One of the most important aspects of interpreting tea leaves is paying attention to the placement and size of the symbols and patterns. Symbols that appear near the rim of the cup are said to represent the present or the near future, while symbols that appear at the bottom of the cup represent the distant future. The size and shape of the symbols can also indicate their importance, with larger symbols being more significant than smaller ones.

Another important aspect of interpreting tea leaves is considering the context of the reading. The same symbol can have different meanings depending on the person receiving the reading and the situation they are in. For example, a heart symbol could represent love and romance for one person, while for another person it could represent emotional healing or self-love.

Tea leaf readers often use their intuition to guide them in the interpretation process, relying on their senses and inner wisdom to understand the symbols and patterns. Some readers may also use a variety of divination tools, such as tarot cards or crystal balls, to gain additional insights into the reading.

It’s important to note that interpreting tea leaves is not an exact science and should be approached with an open mind and a sense of curiosity. While some people may find the process to be accurate and meaningful, others may view it as nothing more than entertainment. Ultimately, the interpretation of tea leaves is a personal and subjective experience that can provide insights and guidance for those who are open to it.

Interpretation

The interpretation of tea leaves is highly subjective and varies depending on the reader’s experience and intuition. Additionally, the appearance and frequency of the letters can also provide additional information about the reading.

Lines Interpreted

During a tea leaf reading, various shapes and symbols that appear in the tea leaves can be interpreted as meaningful messages for the querent. However, the interpretation of the lines found in the cup can also be significant in the reading.

In Conclusion

Tea leaf reading is an ancient form of divination that has been practiced for centuries. It involves interpreting the patterns and symbols formed by tea leaves at the bottom of a cup after they have been steeped in hot water. While the interpretation of tea leaves is highly subjective, there are some common symbols and patterns that are often found in tea leaf readings. Tea leaf reading can be used as a form of entertainment, but it can also be used to gain insight into one’s future or as a form of self-reflection.

Foraging: Plantains

Foraging Plantains!

Plantains are a type of weed commonly found in many parts of the world. Despite their reputation as a nuisance plant, they are edible and nutritious, making them an excellent food source for those who know how to forage them. Foraging for plantains is a simple and rewarding activity that requires only a basic knowledge of plant identification and some patience.

In this article, we will explore the benefits of foraging for plantains, how to identify them, where they grow, and common uses. Whether you’re a seasoned forager or new to the practice, learning how to identify and harvest plantains can be a valuable addition to your knowledge of wild foods.

What Does Plantain Look Like – How to Identify Two Species of this Practical Plant?

This claimed weed is common where all plants grow. Simply step outside and look around, it’s likely there’s one of these plants’ variants growing among the others. The nutritional punch it packs plus its natural medical properties’ surprises most and changes the way people look at these weeds. Let’s clear up a confusion, although Plantain plants share the same name as the banana-like fruit these two plants are completely different. The plantain falls under the Plantaginaceae family of which there are 34 plants readily available around the world, all of them edible.

Broadleaf PlantainSo, what does a plantain look like? The two most common types of plantains you might find are: broadleaf plantain (Plantago major, image right) and narrow-leaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata, image above). Both types of plantains are herbaceous, flowering plants with leaves that grow in a rosette formation. Plantains are perennials plants with sturdy leaves that grow in the same areas year after year.

Where do plantains grow?

Pretty much everywhere that humans live there are plantains. It’s often classified as an invasive weed, although with time it could be more commonly known as a wild edible source of importance.
This plant is very resilient and found growing in areas with compacted soil such as sidewalks, bustling streets, and all-round cities. It’s easily spotted along riverbanks, in farmland, and grasslands, and seems to thrive in all areas that have a human disturbance.

What does broadleaf plantain (Plantago major) look like?

Parts of the broadleaf plantain (Plantago major). The most familiar variety is the broadleaf plantain, also known as greater plantain or common plantain. Even after our bitterly cold winters where it can drop to -40°F, the broadleaf plantain pops up again every spring. The broadleaf plantain is characterized by its rosette shape, with broad and thick spade-shaped leaves. Each leaf has between five and nine long veins. When they flower, they produce small clustered greenish-brownish flowers along a purple stamen. Broadleaf plantains grow to 15–30 cm (6–12 inches) in diameter. Flower stalks are taller and can grow as tall as 25 cm (9.84 inches). These low-growing plants are well adapted to human life and can easily withstand trampling and lawnmowers. By lying low to the ground, it protects itself from further damage.

One defining characteristic of broadleaf plantains is their fibrous nature. Try gently pulling a plantain leaf from its stem. You will see sinewy strings still attached. Because of this, plantain fibers were used to make twine and woven to create other practical household items.

What does narrow-leaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata) look like?

Parts of the narrowleaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata).Another common variety of plantain is the narrow-leaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata), also known as English plantain, or ribwort plantain.
As the name implies, narrow-leaf plantain leaves are narrower and longer than their broad-leafed cousin. At first glance, they look like long thick blades of grass. The narrow-leaf plantain has deep veins running lengthwise. When you look closer, you’ll see smaller veins running in all different directions.
It also has tall stalks with clustered, small green/brown flowers. Flower stems generally grow between 10–40 cm (3.9–15.7 inches).

An abundance of seeds

One of the reasons why plantains are so plentiful is that they produce a lot of seeds. Each plant can produce up to 14,000 seeds each year! The seeds may remain viable for up to 60 years. Seeds are dispersed by the wind, animals, and humans.
The seeds of plantains are also edible. To eat the seeds fresh from the plant, place a stalk between your teeth and gently scrape out the seeds.
Plantain seeds can also be ground up or dried for use in recipes for breads and salads. They have a slightly nutty, full-bodied flavor which lends itself nicely to certain recipes.
When young and without flowers, broadleaf plantains are sometimes confused with plants of the Lily family which are not edible. Once flowers appear, it’s easier to distinguish between the two.
If you’re having trouble identifying a plant, ask a local specialist.

Common natural home remedies and uses of plantain

One of the easiest and most common uses of plantain leaves is as a soothing agent for insect bites, bee stings and minor cuts. Make a saliva-based poultice by chewing up leaves in your mouth and applying to the wounded area. Cover with a bandage.
Have a cough or cold? Brew plantain leaf tea. Sweeten with a dollop of honey. Plantain acts as an expectorant, helping to clear mucus from the body when you’re sick.
If you need help with bowel movements, plantain seeds act as a laxative.
Get a boost of vitamins A, C, and E along with magnesium and calcium. Incorporate fresh plantain leaves into salads, or make a green smoothie. Plantain leaves can also be pan-fried and used in stir-fry recipes.

Foraging tips

If you’re planning on foraging some wild plantain, here are a few tips:

Make sure plantains are growing in an area free of herbicides and pesticides. The best place to start foraging is in your own backyard assuming it’s chemical-free. Avoid plantains that look shriveled or discolored—a sure sign they’ve been chemically treated. A good general rule is to stay several meters away from roadsides and commercial properties.
Harvest plantain leaves by simply pulling gently to remove from the plant. The leaves come off easily while the root remains in the earth for re-growth. While plantains are resilient and grow readily, it’s always a good idea to leave some for next time, or for others.
You might need to bring a pair of scissors (just in case), to separate the leaves from the plant. Young plants have fibrous, thick stems that can be difficult to pluck.
Rinse plantain leaves in a colander and pat dry. You can refrigerate fresh leaves for several days, but it’s best to use them while fresh. To preserve leaves, try drying them.

Conclusion

While it’s annoying to have plantains popping up all over your yard, they’re a bountiful source of nutrients with powerful medicinal properties. Instead of fighting nature by spraying herbicides on them, try harvesting these natural wonders. You might find yourself a bit healthier and happier.

Disclaimer: Foraging for wild food can be a rewarding and enjoyable activity, but it can also be dangerous. It is important to note that not all plants are safe to eat and misidentification of plants can lead to serious illness or even death. Additionally, wild food can be contaminated with pollutants or harmful substances, which can also pose health risks. Therefore, it is crucial to exercise caution and proper research before consuming any wild food. It is recommended to learn from experienced foragers or take a foraging class before attempting to forage on your own. Always properly identify the plant and verify with multiple reliable sources before consuming. If you have any doubts, it is best to err on the side of caution and avoid consuming the plant.

How To Protect Yourself Against Energy Vampires

Introduction

Energy stealers are everywhere! They are your family members, your friends and they are your co-workers and YOU may even be one yourself. A more common name is an Energy Vampire and we all know what vampires do! In this case the vampire is sucking our vital energy, depleting us and causing us to become unhealthy emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Spiritual purification and cord cutting are some tools that can keep the vampires away!

Definition

What does the term Energy Vampire mean anyway? An Energy Vampire is a person that steals other people’s energies because they are living their life in a victim consciousness and believes that everything happens to them as opposed to around them. Living in this manner is very disempowering. Therefore in order for them to feel better about themselves they need to attach themselves to another person’s energy field.

In order for an Energy Vampire to attach themselves to your energy, they form cords attaching the two of you together. These cords are not visible to the naked eye but they can be seen with the psychic third eye. When they need a boost, they unconsciously steal your energy instead of using their own! These cords are also like highways and run both ways! That means that you will also receive their energy whether it is positive or negative. If they have a headache, you may also develop a headache. If they are depressed, you may become depressed. If they are angry, you may become angry and so on. As you can see, this can be very detrimental to your health. At an unconscious level, you have allowed the vampire or vampires to attach themselves to your energy body through these cords. These cords prevent you from really being the real you! It is imperative that these cords be severed and sometimes a spiritual purification is required for your well-being and also for the growth of the other person.

How do we recognize an Energy Vampire?

Some traits of the dis-empowered energy stealer are:

  •  Feels lonely or abandoned
  • Feels they have been rejected
  • Needs constant reassurance
  • Never feels satisfied
  • Doesn’t like to be alone
  • Seeks nurturing or feels they need to be taken care of
  • Low energy and fatigued
  • They have a poor me attitude
  • Is a drama king or queen
  • Constant talker that never allows you to speak
  • Needs you to be their therapist or rescuer fixing their problems
  • The blamer making you feel guilty about things
  • Vindictive by putting you down
  • A person that is unhappy a lot
  • Tries controlling you or your life
  • Manipulates you to get things their way

How do I know if I am being psychically attacked?

You may experience:

  • Dizziness
  • Loss of energy
  • Muscle tension
  • Mental confusion
  • Headaches
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Irritability
  • Depressed mood
  • Physical illness
  • Small diminishing aura
  • Leaks, holes and/or tears in your aura
  • And a whole lot more!

I know, you are now thinking that almost everyone is alive! Unfortunately, too many people are simply not aware of their energetic bodies and how they operate. Once people start taking responsibility for creating their own lives and taking back their personal power this will not be as prevalent. (Granted other conditions also can be the cause of these symptoms besides being energetically attacked.) Either way it is detrimental to your health, in all areas of your energetic being, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

How do I protect myself from this? First, you need to become aware of which individuals deplete your energy and limit your contact with them. But simply not being in their physical presence does not stop them from draining you! You need to release all the negative emotions that you carry within yourself. If you hold anger, hurt, jealousy, etc. inside your being, it is like you are shackled to a ball and chain, holding you hostage with your own creation!

Releasing all negative emotions brings freedom as fear is the robber of peace. Why must I do this? Because any disharmony in our four energetic bodies will cause us to be vulnerable, so that darkness and confusion can enter. Being aware of this is empowering. I stress this, do not go into fear now that you are aware of this. Simply take the steps to protect yourself. Darkness consists of anything that is of a lower/heavier vibration such as anger, fear, depression, jealousy, hatred etc. When angry thoughts are directed at you, they can penetrate your weak and vulnerable areas like arrows. What happens is they take away your clarity and fill you with confusion and drain your energy.

The following are some tools to empower yourself from Energy Vampires.

Physical steps for General purification:

  • Burn all relevant photographs or objects holding memories of the person, place or situation.
  • Write down all feelings of frustration, anger, hurt, fear, etc., and burn the paper or bury it. Please don’t give it to the person! Repeat this step as often as necessary.
  • Clear all the clutter from every room of your home. Rule of thumb. If you haven’t used in 6 months it’s not likely you will! Get rid of it.
  • Clean and if necessary redecorate your home. Bringing nature indoors is wonderful energy!
  • Check there are no books in your bookshelves or pictures on your walls that have negative energy. Surround yourself with high vibrational objects, spiritual books, spiritual pictures, plants, fresh flowers etc.
  • Smudge with sage, cedar, and sweetgrass and invoke the help of your Deity, your Guides and your Higher Self.
  • Cleanse and purify your crystals and dedicate them to the Light.
  • Light candles and use high vibrational pure essential oils.

Simple cord-cutting exercise.

Cord cutting should be done on a daily basis and much more often when we are going through a stressful period in our life. These cords should be cut from our loved ones as well. No cord attached to anyone or thing is good!

Take some deep cleansing breaths. In through the nose and out through the mouth. Call upon Spirit and your Spirit Guides and ask for assistance in cutting all cords that are attached to your being. Visualize Spirit and your Guide’s positive energy swirling around your entire being severing all the cords. Know that no cord can remain intact and they are returning to where they came from. When you feel the process is complete, thank Spirit and your Guides for their assistance. It is done.

Advanced Cord-Cutting Ritual

A full cord-cutting is beyond the scope of this post but luckily we have a full post detailing this ritual – HERE

Conclusion

In conclusion, energy vampires are people who drain your vitality and leave you feeling exhausted, anxious, or depressed. They can be anyone in your life, from family members to coworkers to friends. To protect yourself from their negative influence, you need to set healthy boundaries, practice self-care, and surround yourself with positive people. You can also use tools such as crystals, herbs, candles, and spells to shield yourself from their energy and enhance your own. Remember that you have the power to choose who you let into your life and how you respond to them. By following these tips, you can avoid becoming a victim of energy vampires and reclaim your energy and happiness.

Write down your desired intention

  1. Start by writing down a powerful statement about the feeling that no longer serves you. For example, “At this moment, the pain I’ve felt will leave my mind and heart.” You can make this one sentence long if that one sentence resonates with you strongly enough. If you wish to have an intention that is several sentences or even several paragraphs long, this is your choice.

  2. Take your time with this step, it is the most important as it will shape the extent of the cutting.

  3. Remember that emotions live in your body, so speak directly to where these emotions have taken up residence. Consider calling out the specific parts of your body that you feel the pain the most. You command this pain to leave, so call it out with conviction.
  4. For example, “My heart will let go from all guilt and shame and fill with love.”
  5. There is no “perfect” way to do it, you are ready when you feel that the intention covers everything you wish to accomplish.

Prepare your cord-cutting candles

  1. Each candlewick will support the ceremonial cord that you’ll be cutting.
  2. Place each candle firmly on its stand.

  3. Ensure the area is free of curious pets, children, familiars, and anything that creates a safety hazard.
  4. For general safety, this ritual is best performed outside with a hose nearby.
  5. Gently tie the 100% cotton string around each of your candles. Depending on the length of time the connection has existed will dictate how high or low upon the candle to tie your string, the longer the connection the lower on your candles you should tie your cord.

This is the physical representation of the metaphysical cord you will be cutting.

Light both candlewicks

  1. Have your written intention at hand
  2. Make sure you lite both wicks.
  3. The flame will often go out; you need to reignite it.
  4. Allow the process to proceed, relighting the flames as needed but know that this is natural.

Read your intention aloud with conviction

  1. While the wick is lit, state your intention allowed and with conviction seven times. If the flame goes out remember just relight it.
  2. Start with a normal tone, but each time state it louder and with more emotional intensity.
  3. This builds up the energy that will permanently cut the cord.

Cut the ceremonial cord

  1. Now comes the critical moment we have been building towards – It’s time to cut the cord.
  2. Take several calming breaths and feel the weight melt away from your mind, down your neck and shoulders and away from your heart.
  3. Take a single deep breath and enjoy a very long exhale.
  4. Cut the string connecting the two candles at the end of the exhale.

Wrapping up The Ritual

  • If you know who it is that is affecting you write their name on a separate piece of paper and burn it. Take the ashes and bury them.
  • Burning sage in the area of the ritual will clear away any lingering negative energies, especially helpful for the energy vampires as they will be “feeling” around for something else to latch onto.
  • Take some time for yourself. Enjoy your favorite tea, take a long walk in the woods, whatever you choose mark it as a fresh starting point now that you are free.
