        Notes

Moon Milk Lavender and CherriesMoon milk is believed to have magical properties that promote relaxation, sleep, and spiritual connection. Lavender is a powerful herb that is often used in spells and rituals to promote tranquility, purification, and harmony. It is said to help calm the mind, soothe anxiety, and facilitate communication with the spiritual realm. Cherries, on the other hand, are associated with abundance, prosperity, and love. By combining these two ingredients in moon milk, we can create a potent brew that promotes restful sleep, deep relaxation, and a profound sense of spiritual connection.
As you sip on your moon milk and gaze up at the moon, take a moment to reflect on the magic and mystery of the universe. Whether you are working with the moon to manifest your desires, to connect with your intuition, or simply to enjoy a peaceful moment of reflection, remember that the power of the moon is always with you, waiting to be harnessed and celebrated.

        Introduction

        Blessings – Hearth and Home

We hold Hearth and Home sacred because we believe that the home is a reflection of the self and a manifestation of the divine. The hearth, or the fireplace, is the center of the home and a symbol of warmth, nourishment, and protection. We perform rituals and spells at the hearth to bless our home, family, and friends, and to connect with the elements of fire, earth, air, and water.

We use the hearth to cook food with intention and gratitude, honoring the cycles of nature and the seasons.

The Hearth of Memories – A Tale of Hearth & Home

She sat by the hearth, watching the flames dance and crackle. The fire was warm and comforting, like an old friend. She smiled as she remembered the many times she had sat here, in this very spot, throughout her life.

She remembered when she was a small child, and her mother taught her how to light the fire with a spark of magic. She remembered the excitement and wonder she felt as she saw the first flicker of flame, and the pride and joy in her motherโ€™s eyes. She remembered how they would sit together by the fire, telling stories and singing songs, while her father played his flute.

She remembered when she was a young girl, and her father took her to the forest to gather herbs and mushrooms. She remembered how he showed her how to identify the plants and animals, and how to use them for healing and spells. She remembered how they would bring their harvest back to the hearth, and cook a delicious stew or pie, while her mother praised their skills.

She remembered when she was a teenager, and her first love came to visit her. She remembered how they would sneak out of their rooms at night, and meet by the fire. She remembered how they would kiss and cuddle, whispering sweet nothings in each otherโ€™s ears. She remembered how they would make plans for their future, dreaming of traveling the world together.

She remembered when she was a young woman, and her love left her for another. She remembered how she cried and raged by the fire, cursing his name and wishing him ill. She remembered how her parents comforted her, telling her that he was not worthy of her, and that she would find someone better. She remembered how they helped her heal her broken heart, with hugs and tea and spells.

She remembered when she was a mature woman, and she met her true love. She remembered how he came to her door one day, with a bouquet of wildflowers and a smile. She remembered how he charmed her with his wit and kindness, and how he asked her to marry him by the fire. She remembered how they celebrated their wedding with their family and friends, dancing and laughing around the hearth.

She remembered when she was an older woman, and she gave birth to her daughter. She remembered how she held her in her arms for the first time, feeling her warmth and heartbeat. She remembered how she brought her to the hearth, and introduced her to the fire spirit. She remembered how she blessed her with love and light, and named her after the goddess of the hearth.

She remembered when she was an elderly woman, and she lost her husband. She remembered how he died peacefully in his sleep, holding her hand. She remembered how she buried him in the garden, under his favorite tree. She remembered how she mourned him by the fire, remembering their happy times together. She remembered how her daughter comforted her, telling her that he was still with her in spirit.

She looked around the room, seeing the pictures and objects that told the story of her life. She saw the flute that belonged to her father, the necklace that belonged to her mother, the ring that belonged to her husband, the doll that belonged to her daughter. She saw the books and tools that belonged to her craft, the herbs and candles that belonged to her magic.

She felt a pang of sadness, knowing that soon she would leave this place behind. She knew that death was inevitable, and that she had lived a full and rich life. But she also felt a surge of gratitude, knowing that she had been blessed with so much love and joy.

She closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the fire on her face. She whispered a prayer of thanks to the fire spirit, who had been with her since birth. She asked for its guidance and protection in her final journey.

She opened her eyes again, seeing a familiar figure standing before her. He was tall and handsome, with dark hair and bright eyes. He wore a simple tunic and trousers, with a cloak over his shoulders. He smiled at her with love and tenderness.

He reached out his hand to her, inviting her to join him.

โ€œHello, my love,โ€ he said softly.

        โ€œHello,โ€ she said back.

She took his hand, feeling his warmth and strength.

She stood up from the hearth, leaving behind all that she had known.

She walked with him into the light.

โ€œThe outside world is a dream. Inside, the fireplace is brightly lit, and the Yule log crackles with orange and crimson sparks. Thereโ€™s a steaming mug in your hands, warming your fingers. Thereโ€™s a friend seated across from you in the cozy chair, warming your heart. There is mystery unfolding.โ€

        Woodland Serenity

        Introduction

        Blessings – Woodland Serenity

We honor nature because We believe that nature is the manifestation of the Divine. Nature is not something separate from us, but something that we are a part of and that is a part of us. Everything in nature has a spirit and a purpose and deserves to be treated with reverence and care. We honor nature by celebrating its beauty and bounty, by learning from its wisdom and cycles, by healing with its gifts and energies, and by protecting it from harm and destruction. We honor nature by living in harmony with it, not against it.

We honor nature because it is our sacred home and our divine teacher.

The Nine Sacred Woods of the Bonfire

These 9 woods are considered sacred because they are based on the first nine trees in the Celtic tree calendar, and are listed in a long-form version of the Wiccan Rede. They are used in ritual fires, especially at Beltane, to honor the Goddess and the God, to purify and draw magick, and to connect with the life force, the ancestors, and the faerie. The nine woods are:

        • Birch: represents the Goddessโ€™s wisdom and inspiration
        • Oak: represents the Godโ€™s insight and strength
        • Rowan: represents the life force and power
        • Willow: represents the ancestors and remembrance
        • Hawthorn: represents purification and clear sight
        • Hazel: represents wisdom and learning
        • Apple: represents love and healing
        • Grapevine: represents joy and fertility
        • Fir: represents rebirth and immortality

        The Wiccan Sacred Forest

        A Short Story

Once upon a time, there was a young witch named Hazel who wanted to celebrate Beltane with her coven. She had heard of a sacred forest where the nine sacred woods grew, a forest that was blessed by the Horned God and the Goddess. She decided to go on a quest to find the sacred forest and gather some wood for the ritual fire.

She packed her bag with some essentials: a cloak, a compass, a knife, some bread and cheese, and a book of spells. She also wore a necklace with a pendant of the Horned God, which she had received from her grandfather. She set off on her journey, following her intuition and the signs of nature.

She traveled through many lands and faced many challenges. She met friendly animals and helpful spirits, but also encountered hostile creatures and dark forces. She used her magick and her wits to overcome the obstacles and protect herself. She also learned many lessons along the way, such as courage, compassion, patience, and balance.

After many days and nights, she finally reached the sacred forest where the nine sacred woods grew. It was a magnificent sight: a lush and green forest with trees of different shapes and sizes. She could smell the fragrance of the flowers and hear the song of the birds. She felt a warm and gentle energy that filled her with awe and joy.

She entered the forest with reverence and gratitude. She looked for the nine sacred woods that she needed for the ritual fire: birch, oak, rowan, willow, hawthorn, hazel, apple, grapevine, and fir. She found them all in different parts of the forest. She thanked each tree for its gift and cut a small branch with her knife. She also left an offering of some bread and cheese for the spirits of the forest.

She gathered all the branches in her bag and made her way back to the edge of the forest. She was about to leave when she heard a voice behind her:

โ€œWho are you and what are you doing in my forest?โ€

She turned around and saw a man standing before her. He was tall and handsome, with long brown hair and a beard. He wore a green cloak and a horned crown. He had piercing green eyes that looked at her with curiosity and kindness.

She recognized him as the Horned God, the ancient god of fertility, life, death, and resurrection. She bowed before him and said:

โ€œI am Hazel, a witch of the Clan of the American Eagle. I came to your forest to gather some wood for the Beltane fire. I hope I have not offended you or your consort, the Goddess.โ€

The Horned God smiled and said:

โ€œYou have not offended me or my consort, Hazel. You have shown respect and gratitude to the trees and the spirits of this forest. You have proven yourself to be a true witch, a true servant of the divine.โ€

He then reached into his cloak and took out a pendant of the Goddess. He handed it to her and said:

โ€œTake this as a gift from me and my consort. It is a symbol of our love and blessing for you and your coven. Wear it with pride and honor.โ€

Hazel thanked him for his gift. She put it on her necklace next to the pendant of the Horned God. She felt a surge of power and joy in her heart.

She hugged him and said goodbye. She left the sacred forest with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.

She returned to her home with new knowledge and new power. She shared what she had learned with others who wanted to know. She practiced what she had been taught with love and respect. She celebrated Beltane with her coven in a glorious ritual fire.

She never forgot the sacred forest, the Horned God, or the Goddess.

        And they never forgot her.

        Blessings – Honoring the Dead

Blessing - Honer the DeadReading Time: 3 minutes
        Blessing - Honer the Dead

        Honoring the Dead

Death is not the end, but a new beginning. We have a special connection with our ancestors and the spirits of the dead, who offer us their wisdom, guidance, love, and protection. In this post, I will share with you a simple and meaningful blessing for the dead that you can use for your loved ones or anyone who has crossed over.

“Death is not the end. Death can never be the end. Death is the road. Life is the traveller. The soul is the guide.”

        Sri Chinmoy

        On Death

Death is a natural and inevitable part of life for Wiccans and Pagans. It is not something to be scared or ashamed of. It is a change from one form of being to another, a passage to a new world of opportunities. Death is also a part of the cycle of nature, which Wiccans and Pagans honor and observe. The seasons change, the moon grows and shrinks, plants sprout and wither, and animals are born and die. All these are expressions of the Goddess and the God, the divine powers that give and sustain life in all its diversity.

Wiccans and Pagans believe that there is an afterlife, where the soul or spirit lives on after leaving the physical body. The afterlife may have different names and features depending on the tradition or individual belief system. Some common terms are the Summerland, Valhalla, Tir na nOg, or Hades . The afterlife is not a place of judgment or retribution, but a place of peace and regeneration. Some Wiccans and Pagans believe that the soul can decide to reincarnate into another body after spending some time in the afterlife, while others believe that the soul can stay in the afterlife forever or move on to a higher level of existence.

We value and revere the dead, especially our ancestors. They believe that the dead are still with us in spirit, and that they can talk to us through dreams, visions, symbols, or rituals. The dead can give us their wisdom, guidance, love, and protection. They can also help us with our spiritual growth and evolution. A few small examples of rituals to honor the dead; setting up dedicated altars, offering food and drink, lighting candles, burning incense, saying prayers, or singing songs. Celebrate your ancestors during festivals that honor the dead, such as Samhain (October 31), Yule (December 21), or Beltane (May 1).

        The Blessing

We honor the dead who have gone before us
We thank them for their wisdom and guidance
We listen to their voices in our dreams and visions
We learn from their stories and experiences
We cherish their memories and gifts
We bless them for their love and protection
We ask them to help us grow and evolve
We hope to meet them again in the Summerland
        Blessed Be.

7 Keys To Unlocking Your Intuition

        Reading Time: 3 minutes

        Introduction

Have you had that experience when all of a sudden you just had this huge hunch that something is about to happen, and to your surprise, that intuition was eventually translated to reality?

When you feel strongly about something without a logical basis to it, thatโ€™s called intuition. It comes in three impressions: clairvoyance or โ€œthe third eyeโ€, sensing clearly, and feeling through listening.

        The Three Impressions

        • Clairvoyance is when your eye goes beyond what it can see. This is when you know what is happening somewhere.
        • Sensing clearly is basically what we refer to as โ€œhunchโ€ or โ€œgut feel.โ€ This is the time when you are overwhelmed with a feeling and you canโ€™t explain it, and all you can say is โ€œI just know.โ€
        • On the other hand, feeling through listening or clairaudience is being able to โ€œlistenโ€ between the lines. Intuition also happens at times when a certain sound, whatever it is, be it a carโ€™s honk or a birdโ€™s tweeting, ushers in an intense feeling.

        Intuition

They say only a number of people are gifted with intuition. Astrologers even insist that people born under the Scorpio or Pisces signs are naturally intuitive; it almost borders on E.S.P. But studies have been sprouting left and right that proclaim that anyone can develop intuition.

Why the need to develop intuition, you ask? Why not let your emotional and psychological state be as it is? First and foremost, intuition promotes good communication. It makes you more sensitive to the people around you; it often keeps you from hurting those you love because you are intuitive enough to understand them. Intuition also makes you far more creative than ever. Intuition means releasing more creative juices for any means of expression. Lastly, intuition has a healing power. This healing power is not in the physical sense, but in delving deep into your soul to eradicate some negative energy buried in it.

With that being said, are you ready to develop your intuition?

        Ways to unlock this gift

        1. Hypnosis – Oh yes, get yourself hypnotized. Hypnosis is not limited to watching a pendulum move back and forth. Perform self-hypnosis or you can avail of hypnotic programs that can strengthen your intuition.
        2. Meditation – Meditating means finding peace in yourself. If your mind and heart are cluttered with too much baggage and hurt, you wouldnโ€™t be able to quiet down that part of you that could eventually initiate intuition. There are so many ways to meditate: take a yoga class, or just simply practice some breathing exercises.
        3. Think positive! – A worry-free, fear-free state could do so much to improve your intuitive ability. By staying positive, you attract good energy that could be able to easily recognize imminent feelings and events.
        4. Just let go. – What does this mean? If you are on the brink of making a huge decision, let go of all the inhibitions and head to a quiet place where you could find out where letting go has brought you. Sometimes you just have to listen to the voice within you, and that voice wonโ€™t come out unless you let go.
        5. Never expect it. – After letting go of the inhibitions and all those things that stop you from thinking and feeling clearly, never expect an answer right away. Never expect that the โ€œhunchโ€ would fall on your lap immediately. Give it a little time, then youโ€™ll be surprised that โ€” wham! โ€” now you have your answer.
        6. Believe in your first impressions. – When you see someone for the first time and think that he is a bit too arrogant for your taste, chances are that impression actually holds true. Most of the time, first impressions are brought by intuition.
        7. Stay happy! – See? All you need to be intuitive is to stay happy! Happiness attracts immense power and such power includes intuition. In tapping your intuition, your motivation must be happiness and contentment. Given that premise, intuition will fall to you easily.

Intuition is helpful because sometimes it leads you to something that cannot be achieved otherwise. A lot of lives have been saved by intuition alone. Decisions are easier done if armed by this gift. Develop intuition now and reap benefits you could have never imagined.

A Deeper Look Into the Four Elements

        Reading Time: 5 minutes

        Introduction

Empedocles, a Greek philosopher, scientist, and healer who lived in Sicily in the fifth century B.C., believed that all matter comprises the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Fire and air are outwardly reaching elements, reaching up and out, whereas earth and water turn inward and downward.

The Four Elements also describe the four unique personality types associated with the zodiac signs. The elements exhibit profound influence on essential character traits, behavior, emotions, thinking, and intuition. They are reflected in our relationships, our ambitions or lack thereof, and the unexpected turns and twists that add spice to our lives.

Astrology aims to help us to better focus our energies, gain a better understanding of our positive traits, and deal with the negative ones. We can use this knowledge to realize our full potential and live our best life. We all need air to breathe, water to cleanse us and sustain our growth, fire to shelter us from the cold and nourish us, earth to live on together with all the living things, and to grow our food. All the elements are equally important and below is a more in-depth description of each.

        Earth

        Astrology: Taurus, Capricorn, Virgo

        Tarot: Pentacles

        Jung: Sensation

Feel the Earth under our feet, the soil that sustains all forms of life. Look at the power and beauty of the mountains, a symbol of stability and solidity of the earth. Every day we experience the physical world, we walk on this earth, enjoy the beauty and bounty of Mother Earth and feel the comfort of being on solid ground.

Associated with the signs Taurus, Capricorn, and Virgo, Earth represents the practical, realistic material side of our nature, it seeks to assert a stable, secure, and structured environment in which we can function. Feel the earth under your feet, solid and steady as you walk slowly. Earth is patient and reliable. It is solid and strong. To be on solid ground encourages one to seek the practical and most logical answer to a problem.

Earth can be a stabilizing force in a relationship contributing structure and organization to achieve balance and harmony. Earth sustains growth- watch plant life grows, from an acorn grows an oak tree; so do humans grow from youth to maturity, and realize the immense growth in every facet of life. The overexpression of this element can be seen in a stubborn and rigid personality, one that strives to remain in the comfort zone in life, afraid to take risks. It can also be seen by a love of the material side of life, the comforts of material well-being. Material worth can be overemphasized and this can lead to a stressful worrisome situation.

Weakness: attachment, stinginess, materialism, resistant to change, too much attention to detail, and missing the big picture.

        Air

        Astrology: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

        Tarot: Swords

        Jung: Thinking

The element Air is associated with the signs Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. It seeks to establish itself in the realm of the intellect. It is through the process of thinking that we develop ideas. It is through the influence of this element that we learn to communicate. Through air, we gain and share knowledge.

Air contributes inventiveness, originality, and versatility to the personality. It gives that feeling of freedom, and unattachment, it reaches out to the mental self. Enjoy that refreshing gentle breeze, allow thoughts to flow freely, and nourish the creative moment. Air expresses the love of people, the ability to intellectualize, to appreciate the differences in people, and accept different perspectives without which, there would be a lack of vision and human interaction.

Thoughts are a continual force in our lives. It is associated with meditation where deep breathing is essential to reach that level of stillness, energy, and relaxation. Air is used for transport, flying, and sailing. Let your thoughts soar to reach your intellectual pursuits. An over-expression of airโ€™s influence can be seen as living in a dream world with unrealistic goals and flights of fancy. Air should seek to maintain practicality and develop consistency in dealing with the real world.

Weakness: lack of emotion, depression, lack of connection with the higher self, and an overactive mind that blocks inner peace and harmony.

        Fire

        Astrology: Leo, Sagittarius, Aries

        Tarot: Wands

        Jung: Intuition

The signs Leo, Sagittarius, and Aries are associated with the element Fire. It represents the life force glowing within us. This element projects self-expression, creativity, courage, and enthusiasm. Feel the comforting warmth of a fire, or heat when you come in from the cold.

We need fire to meet the basic need of cooking our food. Fire provides a sense of security, warmth, and inspiration that is shared with those around. Fire strengthens self-confidence to tackle problems without hesitation. Without fire, there is no radiance, no conviction, no expression. A spark can light up new ideas, and serve as a beacon to light the way to achieve goals with conviction and enthusiasm.

An over-expression of fire can turn assertiveness into aggression, daring into reckless behavior, and so forth. When fire’s influence is out of control, it seeks to consume all in its path.

Weakness: lack of interest, egotistic, excessive self-centeredness, self-importance.

        Water

        Astrology: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

        Tarot: Cups

        Jung: Feelings/Emotion

The element Water is associated with the signs of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces and influences the conscience and the subconscious forces that act on our lives.

The essence of water pours forth to others. It allows one to feel their pain and suffering and offer sincere compassion. Psychic awareness is also present in the water signs and shows itself from time to time with uncanny accuracy. Water seeks to heal and nurture those around it.

Uncontrolled, this element can send emotions on a turbulent path resulting in moodiness and unpredictable highs and lows, like the crest and trough of a wave.

Water signs need serenity and calmness, like a gently flowing river nurturing all in its wake and at the same time leading to the discovery of new paths. When overexpressed, one may tend to be overly emotional, deeply sensitive, and subjective. With too much emotion, depression may result.

Weakness: being too protective and possessive of their loved ones; a cold attitude and lack of drive may arise.

        Completing the Circle

We all benefit from knowledge. Most of us share the ambition to learn, understand, and grow. Understanding our impact on the elements, and the elements’ effects on us are important. We breathe the air, are cooled by the breeze, and have crafted machines to generate energy from the winds. Water makes up about 71% of the Earth and about 60% of the human body. We use fire to protect ourselves, to warm us, and to guide us. Earth is beneath our feet, grounds us, and gives us land, which let us survive and grow.

All these elements are important and powerful and work together with us, so we may live.
